Nitrofurantoin is usually the preferred antibiotic and the FDA classifies it as being safe during breastfeeding. Your doctor should be able to prescribe it for you, if they deem it appropriate.

Its typical side effects may possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and diarrhea.
