Tylenol Pm 1 Hour After Taking Eliquis 5 Mg, Is That Ok?

I am to take 5 mg at 8 am and 8 pm. I forgot 8 am one until noon so I took it then. When do I take the 8 pm dose? Also, how soon after the pm dose may I take 2 Tylenol PM?

Hi Judi - Can you please write back with what drug you are taking at 8 am and 8 pm? You did not mention what other medication you are taking in your message. That way it should be possible to see if there are any drug interactions.

I take 5 mg Eliquis at 8am and 8pm. In the morning I also take 20 mg Escitalopram, 100 mg Losartan, 180 mg Diltiazem. At 8pm I also take 10 mg Amlodipine and the 5 mg Eliquis.

Thank you for the additional details Judi. According to MedlinePlus.gov, if you miss a dose of Apixaban (the active ingredient in Eliquis) you should be okay if you take the missed dose as soon as you remember, and then you can continue your normal dosing schedule, UNLESS it is pretty close to the time of your next dose. So in other words, taking a dose at noon, and then again at 8pm should be okay, but ideally take the second (evening) dose a bit later if you can wait. [1]

As far as taking Tylenol PM after your evening dose, I did not see any specific warnings or interactions with Eliquis. You should avoid taking Tylenol PM if you are ever on Warfarin or taking other sedatives / tranquilizers. [2] Also, you should not take other types of NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Naproxen, as those could significantly increase the risk of bleeding while taking a blood thinner such as Eliquis. Tylenol (Acetaminophen), on the other hand, is generally okay to take. [3] Because you are on several other medications in addition to the Eliquis, I would recommend calling your pharmacy just to make sure I'm overlooking other possible drug interactions here.
