Tussionex Sus Cell (Top voted first)

why can't this medicine be found today. It was the only
thing that would stop my mom from coughing. She is 86 years old and coughs so violently that I am afraid it is going to kill her. Her Dr. has tried many things but to no avail nothing has worked. Her Dr. says that this medicine has been discontinued. So why isn't something there to take it's place?

Your doctor is either searching with the wrong info or he or she just doesnt want to prescribe it. As of April 1 2011 it is still available as Tussionex EXT REL SUS good luck!!

That is correct, Tussionex suspension is still available, under Tussionex PennKinetic, as both that name brand and the generic.

It contains the active ingredients Chlorpheniramine and Hydrocodone, so that is what the generics would be listed under.

YEP IT HAS never BEEN OFF THE MARKET. hE'S LYING. i JUST PICKED UP TWO BIG BOTTLES OF IT TODAY ( i GET BRONCHITIS AND OO PNEUMONIA EVERY YEAR. CONFRONT HIM! IT IS STILL VERY MUCH AVAILABLE!!

Delsim is Tussionex without hydrocodone. If she gets hydrocodone in something else, try Delsim. It is OTC.

Don't waste your money on generic Tussionex. They screwed up and it doesn't work as good as the name brand and is only a little cheaper.

Many cough medicines were discontinued, but not Tussionex. as of Dec. 2011, it is available. But you must ask for name brand at the pharmacy.

I know Hycodan is also still available. Tussionex is a schedule 3. Hycodan might be a schedule 4. I'm not sure.

By the way, my Walgreens told me name brand Tussionex is not available any longer. After pursuing the same question with my grocery pharmacy, Publix advised , they can still ORDER name brand for those who wish to continue using the name brand. I pushed for that answer, I guess it takes effort on the part of your pharmacy to get it.
My next prescription will be name brand.

I also have a bottle of Tussionex Ext Rel sitting right in front of me. I had no trouble getting it at Target Pharmacy. I have a question about the expiration date. This bottle has an expiration date of 11-04-11. Is it still good?

Yep I got a bottle of the name brand and generic right now. I'm sicker than a dog and both work for me even the generic.
