Tussionex - Availability?

Several pharmacies would not fill the prescription, and they said it is no longer an approved cough medicine... This cough medicine worked...What is comparable that is available?

No, Tussionex was one of the ones that did receive FDA approval. There are also several others that contain the same active ingredients that are approved, such as Hycodan, Mycodone, and Tussigon. Perhaps you should ask your doctor about prescribing one of them. They do warn that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Has anyone else had trouble obtaining this one?

Thank you...yes, I understand the addictive properties, but a little 4 oz bottle once or twice a year (that really stops the cough so that you can rest), I think is ok. I called my pharmacy after seeing your response and was told that there is now a new manufacturer...that could have been the problem, but it is now available. Thank you for your response!!

I've had a really bad cough over a week and nothing else except for Tussionex cough syrup has helped one bit. Does anyone know of a doctor in the Oklahoma City area who will prescribe Tussionex cough syrup?
