This info is from 2011. It is for rxs that a drs writes to Medicare patients who have Prescription Part D. Many of these patients are very ill with chronic health problems. This info is not an indicator of what rxs a dr will write to new patients who may not have the serious illnesses that other patients do and who may not be as old as other patients. Many of these drs work in hospital Emergency Rooms. Which also accounts for the high number of certain rxs they may write. Medicare is in the process of cracking down on pain meds that are wrtten for non cancer related pain.
