Tris Norco 10/325 G037
UpdatedI have been taking norco over the years from Watson. A couple of years ago my prescription changed to Tris I have realized over the last several refills the effects of relief are not constant as with the watsons, even within the own bottle some are strong some are not Walgreens said they dont carry Watson any longer. If FDA is monitoring this drug and lab works could there be such a huge significant difference in quality???

Hello Edawg,
It's sort of complicated but I'll do my best to answer your question. There are rules that a generic must follow in order to sell a drug, one of these rules is that they have to prove to the FDA that they are able to consistently manufacture the drug within a 20% error of the brand name. This means that they need to prove that a person who administers the generic version of the drug can have no more than 120% of the active ingredient in their bloodstream and no less than 80% in their bloodstream.
For the sake of my example let's assume that you're taking a 1mg drug. So long as the pills you are taking fall between .8mg and 1.2mg in your bloodstream after administration you are technically getting a legal dosage. Here is the tricky part though, let's say that half of your pill bottle is made from a batch that has 1.2mg and the other half falls really low near the .8mg. When this happens it isn't a 20% difference as it would suggest, instead you're feeling a 40% difference. Ultimately the problem people have is that they start to enjoy the way that the higher dosages feel and begin to feel like they aren't getting any relief when they experience a lower dosage, despite it being just as close to the prescribed dosage.
A very large issue you will find in the pharmaceutical industry (as with any industry that has large manufacturing processes) is that some companies have better manufacturing practices than others and sometimes you will find that one plant will manufacture their product better than another. It simply comes down to how well they are able to follow the manufacturing practices that they had set in place when they were tested by the FDA.
Hopefully this sheds some light on the situation you are experiencing and ultimately give you a starting point as to what you want to do next. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Re: Kevin (# 1)
Thnx Kevin that's pretty much what I was thinking some chocolate chip cookies have more chips than others but the batter in the bowl was to code, yeah I get it. I just thought it was strange that i have been taking these meds for over 15 years daily and do blood work every 6 mos my Dr thought the opioid in my blood was kind of low considering I take 4 of the 10/325 with soma everday so idk.
This is the worst medicine.
