Trimethorprim Bad Reaction

I was going to the doctors and she gave me a urinalysis test. She gave me Trimethoprim to start which I did the same day. I took the first one at 4 pm and by 8 pm I went down hill! Worst headache ever, tremors down my body, chills, high temperature. I didn't have a clue what was going on. Got rushed to hospital and they told me I had ketones and protein in my urine. I was dehydrated and with me having a high temperature, I was fighting an infection. Once I calmed down they told me to carry on with Trimethoprim and to take Pracetamol and Iboufen to calm my temperature. I took another Trimethoprim and again I started again, this time coming out in spots, itching and joint pain. Doctor told me to stop them and gave me an antihistamine and a different antibiotic one that I have had before. I feel so much better but my calves are still sore and I'm a bit unsteady on my feet. Does anyone know what I should do or how long this will last ?

Hello, Lou! How are you? I am very sorry about what happened to you!

You didn't take that many, so it should improve in a few days.

The normal antibiotic side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

How are you feeling, now? Have things improved, at all?
