Why aren't there triamt/hctz tabs available? As I cannot get my script filled by prescription solutions pharmacy?

My latest triamterene/hctz 37.5/25 mg script with Apo written on it (oval shape), has been changed at wal-mart with a round tablet that looks like it has the word sandoz on it. Is it the same, and is it made here or in China?

Forget shortage. My local Walmart after saying "shortage" now says the mfg. is no longer making this drug.

The manufacturers of this generic medication have reported a shortage of Triamterene to the FDA, however, a reason for the shortage was not provided. They originally estimated a full supply would return to the market by late last month, but this did not occur and no other information has been provided.

In the meantime, the best advice I can give you is to speak to your doctor about using an alternative medication. A comparable one would be Aldactazide, which contains Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide.
