Is there a difference between the 433 pliva trazodone and the 6160 v because it seems to me the 6160 doesn't work as good is this possible??

Hi Mistified,

When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. Even though both medications are clearly identified as Trazodone hydrochloride 50 mg - certain "inactive" ingredients which may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body.

So yes, it is possible that you may respond favorably with one medication and not the other (even if they are the same medication). This can be attributed mostly to how certain binders/fillers make you feel or whatever side effects they might carry.

Here is a list of Inactive Ingredients found in 6160 V:
hypromellose
lactose monohydrate
magnesium stearate
polydextrose
polyethylene glycol
povidone
corn starch
silicon dioxide
titanium dioxide

You can learn more about this drug on the page for Trazodone Details

I hope this info helps! Have you tried asking your doctor for the Pliva brand again?
