Tramodol 100mg Er

I have used tramodol 100mg er tablets for 6 months for aid in limting pain in my right hip after a fall. I was taking 2 in the AM and 1 in the evening. All went good until I recently started being unable to sleep all night. The doctor did not want to raise my dose and prescribed hydocodone/ace 5-500 and I still cannot sleep after a few hours. Should the dose of 2 tramodol be administered at night and the dose of 1 be used in AM. I do NOT have pain during the day other than very minor.
