Tramadol is stronger. I'd research about the blood thinners. Might help to know that Tramadol is relatively new on the market, researchers might not have all of the facts. Ten years ago, the word was that it was NOT addictive. Now we know that it is Still, it is a nice, less ominous, alternative to narcotics.
Hello, Shelby! How are you?
In order of strength and efficacy… Tylenol 3 is the mildest you've listed, then Tramadol, and the strongest is the Hydrocodone/APAP.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Past research and current research has shown Tramadol is a less effective agonist than hydrocodone. Plus, tramadol has been shown to have a ceiling effect. Meaning, it is only effective for certain pain levels. It has worse/different side effects than hydrocodone. I used tramadol for 1 year while I waited for shoulder surgery and it worked for fluctuating dull pain but not sharp consistent variable pain, and it causes terrible sedation, vivid nightmares, and doesn't work for every one. It should be over the counter. I am not a proponent of this drug. Doctors in Colorado like to prescribe it be they believe, although not constantly effective across populations, it is viewed less hazardous, (and they are scared of the state), in combination with other drugs and alcohol as well as its sedation effect( among maybe other reasons). It is not effective, at all, for nerve pain in many people. Of course people can argue the research, but if you try it, you will know for yourself.
Tramadol is amazing. Two things though: the withdrawal is much more brutal than Vicodin, and the constipation is terrible. Great pain reliever though. I also suffer w SLE, Fibro, and severe nerve damage.
Before the Pharmaceutical industry started getting sued I would say Norco was off the charts better than Tramadol. Now I can't tell the difference except, tramadol works as an antidepressant for me and that's a good thing.
