Tramadol Chronic Cough

After years of being treated with a progressively chronic debilitating cough I was prescribed Tramadol 50mg morning and night. Within hours the couph had gone totally. I have been on Tramadol 3 years I have had countless Chest xrays and blood tests all come back normail. I have tried numerous times to come off the Tramadol under doctors supervision by 1x50mg a week if I get to reducing 2 per week chroic cough resumes at its worse. Do you have any suggestions I would like to come off Tramadol but the return of the cough is not something I want either. Thankyou

That can be a normal side effect of stopping the medication, or tapering off of it. The FDA also warns that you may experience dizziness, rebound pain, headache, fever, and chills.

However, such symptoms should only last about a month, or so. How are you doing, now? How much are you currently taking?

Are you on any other medications?
