Tramadol Shortage (Page 10)

Does anyone know of a pharmacy with tramadol available? I tried ordering it but everyine keeps telling me its out of stock and not available until after the holidays. I run out of my rx today and can't wait until after the holidays so any help is appreciate it.

Maureen, I take almost 20 a day myself. Definitely not good. I have been on them for 10 yrs or so now. But I think this has been a more widespread shortage than what happened before. I was so glad to find this site and see I wasn't alone in searching and not finding anything. Alot of these sites are connected to each other, even ones with different phone no's have the same company and will cancel out an order if you already have an order with a different site of theirs. That could be why you got cancelled. Not for what you put on the form , because I have basically the same on my form. Last week I got my refill but I am still seeing other people having problems and I am worried already about what will happen when I need mine refilled again! Pretty scary! Don't let judgmental people bother you, some people believe they are the only ones to experience pain!

Dickens I ordered from the Health one yesterday and it says it is on a UPS truck and will be delivered before 3 I will let you know what happens. The only thing with this place is that they are more expensive and they only take COD So I will be back later.

I ordered from Health Pharm to and I just got a money order for the whole amount. It is on the UPS truck now. I will let everyone know when I get them.

I have about 130 left. What I am going to do is start the process of ending it. So God help me. I am going to take 5 a day for about 7 days and from there go to 4 a day for 7 days, and then 3 for 7 days and go the rest of the way with 2 and down to 1. Does anyone think this will work out for me>? Others should try--if you are able too.

That sounds like a good plan Steve ... if you can taper off of them, you'll find that you'll feel much better.

As for me, I have to have some sort of medicine for terrible headaches/neck pain that I have from a bad car accident that I was in. I was on 80mg tablets (prescribed by a dr) for a couple of years, and went off them cold turkey about a year ago. It wasn't easy but I felt so much better physically and was able to do so much more.

I'm trying to find a new dr. now that will prescribe something - I've got a rx for 120 tramadol a month, but that just doesn't help with the pain anymore. Lately I've just been a vegetable, laying down all day, and that's no kind of a life at all. I've GOT to get something to control the pain - but I just don't know what. I really don't want to start taking oxycontin again... and I found that tramadol actually seemed to help more than percocet.

I really don't think that's going to work. You are probably going to need to add in some sort of antidepressant and perhaps some neurontin to make sure you don't get into trouble with a seizure. I'm no doc, but you sure want to be careful not to do this too quickly. I saw something online not long ago about a withdrawal kit for Tramadol. We all are probably going to need help with this. However, if you're only taking a few a day and haven't been on them for a long time, you might be okay with your plan. I also read that Imodium will assist with the abd discomfort that you will have. That bothers me as much as anything else. Looks like I may get a delivery tomorrow. Pray for me, cause I'm gonna be a hurtin unit if that's not the case.

Thanks for the input Kathy and Michelle. It's bad enough iI lost my job and this has put me into depression. I was waiting for the day they would cut this off. Now it's just about here.

I am going to do the taper thing as best I can. I heard some people speak of Kratom. I will see if I can get some of this. I have been taking tramadol for sometime--5-years.

I was hoping the taper down thing would work. I know about the seizures. That scares me. Thanks again. I will do my best to win this battle.

Dickens I don't care what other people say, Tramadol doesn't make you High it just gets rid of the pain and relaxes me. Compared to Vicodin and percacet or oxy, this is nothing. It isn't a narcotic it is a Opiate antagonist. Meaning you can get addicted but people get addicted to a lot of things. I don't think this is such a bad thing to be addicted to. And I do take Neurontin for nerve pain. Hopefully I will have the same doctor and nothing will change in the future.

soopsteve, its a good idea and that is the way to wean but if you are anything like me, you should have someone hold the pills and dole them out daily. I've tried dozens of times to do a wean and would start off great and always fall. I've had 6 seizures over the past 7 years and I try not to mess around with tramadol dosing much because of it. be careful and safe.

You might think about putting in an order to one of the overseas companies now, because they take a couple of weeks to come through. I think that's what I'm going to do, but am definitely going to proceed with the tapering and trying to get off of them. Too expensive and this week has been pure Hell for me. I have a few left, but am afraid to take them because I'm going to run out, but then have to take them because I need them. Trying to work and have to be in front of people. I've been so distracted that I haven't done a very good job and I know the client realizes there is something wrong. Have said that I have a cold (I do, a bit), and am not feeling well. Boy, if they only knew HOW not well I feel. Just trying to get through the day and get on the plane Fri night.

I also take WAY too much Tram...about 10-12 a day..and my spouse takes 1 a day maybe 1x a week..so I blow thru my orders quick. This past few weeks have been a NIGHTMARE. I am ashamed I am so dependant on them and will try to start the tapering. I hate this feeling..Please post any success or fails you have with the whole tram tapering process! Thanks

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share some info that I thought could be useful. Like you, I was addicted to Tramadol. At my worst, I was taking 12-15 at a time (50mg) and ended up in the E.R. a few years ago. I had been ordering Tramadol online, and my bloodwork showed levels of methadone and PCP, indicating the pills I procured were not pure. However, I continued taking Tramadol up until a month ago when the shortage began. I went from 9 pills a day to 2 pills a day, tapered to 1 1/2, 1, 1/2, and I took my last half on December 30, 2012. The withdrawals overwhelmed me instantly. I spent every hour trying to order Tramadol, consumed with Tramadol, only thinking about Tramadol and ending the agony the withdrawals caused.

My biggest problem with withdrawals was the depression I felt. I truly believed Tramadol acted as an anti-depressant for me more than anything, helping my out-of-whack seratonin levels. The few weeks I was without it, I was crying constantly, unable to get out of bed, and gaining significant weight due to non-stop eating. The physical pain was nothing compared to the mental struggles I faced. I literally couldn't function; even simple things like showering or putting clothes on took all of my will power.

I came across a forum which discussed kratom (a leaf of the Mitragyna speciosa tree) and the positive results it produced. Kratom is illegal in Australia, Malaysia, and Thailand, but not in the United States. It is a leaf that you can chew, make tea out of, or take in capsule form. There have been NO reported cases of deaths due to kratom, making it significantly less risky than Tramadol. I cannot tell you how much it has helped. The withdrawal symptoms I had vanished the first day that I took kratom. I had energy again, my mood was significantly improved, my whole body felt at peace, no aches or pain anywhere.

Tramadol has ruined a big part of my life, and I believe the recent shortage should be a wake-up call for us all. It is a very dangerous drug; I don't remember months of my life due to withdrawals and depression. It isn't worth consuming so much of your time, energy, fear, and worry. I'm not judging any of you, because I was the worst of the worst. I lost relationships, lost my scholarship to college, tried to harm myself, considered ending my life...all due to complications from Tramadol.

I'm not saying it's good to tackle one addiction with another. Do some research about kratom (I am taking the most mild strain, Bali); it can be addictive (like anything), but it is very hard to build up a tolerance to it, so you will not have to keep increasing your dose. I am only taking 4 capsules a day, about two teaspoons. It is much cheaper (about $40 for a month's supply), LEGAL, and very easily accessible. You won't get a "high" if that is what you're seeking, but it should very likely aid your withdrawal from Tramadol.

Anyway, just wanted to write this in the case that it could even help ONE person out. For any of you suffering from depression or lack of energy/vitality, please do try it.

We all have to support each other, as NO ONE else understands the power and control the Tramadol has/had over all of us.

I don't understand I take a lot of tramadol to but they help my back and foot and also they even out my mood, I feel good when I take them. I also take Neurontin and something called Soma. I have been taking these things for years, and I am hoping I will be taking them forever. I don't like the hard Narcotics like Vicodin or percacet. They make me feel like I am cloudy. Tramadol does nothing except makes me feel a lot better. I give you guys credit if you will wean yourselves off, but if your going to feel lousy why are you doing it?

Maureen, did you say that you are taking20 per day? That's so dangerous. Taking too many can cause seizures or death! You need to talk to a Dr about tapering off on a schedule that will be safe. When you started taking more then were prescribed, you should have talked to your Dr about taking something stronger, that would control your pain. Ask for a referral to a good pain management specialist. Make sure that they are board certified.
