Tramadol Prescription

Any one in the Anchorage,AK area having trouble getting prescription for tramadol from your Dr.? My Dr. prescribe's me 3-50mg. a day, but for some reason he now will only prescribe me 60 a month. When I first started out with him he would prescribe me 90 a month no problem. I have verifiable lower back" degenerative issue" as he put's it. With MRI to prove it. Is tramadol now looked at the same as a narcotic or what? He doesn't even want to discuss the issue. Just weird.

thanks! sorry took so long to respond. I think you are correct. I have not had any addiction problems using tramadol. I have read that people do get addiccted to this med., I just don't see how. It doesn't give you a "high" feeling. Maybey from taking a large dose? I think people claim tramadol addiction, when in fact they are taking other medications and blaming it on tramadol. I have never had any withdrawel problems using this med., yet I read that people are saying chronic addiction problems. Sorry, I just dont agree that tramadol is addictive. It's not a narcotic, and if they are expeirincing withdrawel then they must be taking way over the prescribed dose. I do not believe my Dr. is too experienced with this med., but probably hearing negative reviews. Thank you for your response!

From an outside perspective I can only think that your doctor may just be looking for you by playing it safe with the dosing so that you don't become too dependent or addicted to the medication. Tramadol is addictive even though its not an opiate.

Tramadol is not currently scheduled as a controlled substance by the U.S. DEA. However, it is scheduled in certain states. This could also be the reason why doctors have to prescribe it more cautiously than before.
