Total Personality Change!

Updated August 25, 2016

My husband has been on Viibryd for almost a year, he has a extraordinary stress level for his job and now works 7 days a wk, 12-14 hr days, the problem is, he is barely recognizable of the Old Husbands personality. Total disconnect from me, only concentrating on work, he is beyond narcissistic, such a chip on his shoulder. Coincidence or has anyone else had or been told they see these same mood swings/personality changes? Thank you!

Hello, Marilyn! How are you doing? Has there been any change with your husband?

Some of these medications can cause that, in some people that take them, medical science has never found any way to explain it, but they do sometimes cause the opposite of the desired effects, according to the FDA and the NIH.

In such cases, it is usually best to inform the person's doctor, because they will most likely have to switch to a different medication.

My husband had this happen once with the first anticonvulsant that he tried. Thankfully, the second one has worked wonderfully for him.

Is there anything else I can help with?
