Toquilone Comp

I have suffered chronic insomnia for over 30 years and now my current doc will not prescribe any hypnotics at all. I used to rotate 3/4 meds to avoid tolerance, on the advice of a previous, much more understanding GP. He would script me triazolam, quinalbarbitone (now called Secobarbital) or the combo Tuinal, methaqualone and flunitrazepam 2mg. I am looking for a source of TOQUILONE, made by Medichemie, Switzerland, which is precisely the same as the old, now withdrawn, drug MANDRAX. 250mg of methaqualone plus 25mg diphenhydramine. Probably the best, fastest acting sleeper I ever had, ensuring at least my 8 hrs per night. I know it's prescribed in several countries & costs about €10/25. But does anybody know if I can get it prescribed online? I can not find a doctor to write it up for me even though I've told them I'll get the script dispensed in Belgium. Surely somebody knows of somewhere? Help!!!

So. Not a single answer as yet.
I live in the UK and am disabled - frequent travel to another EU country would be difficult. SURELY there is SOMEBODY in this community who would be able to suggest ways and means of procuring 90 day supplies of Toquilone (methaqualone) & the other hypnotics which I find effective but are no longer available via the UK NHS, triazolam (Halcion), 2mg flunitrazepam (Hypnocalm, Rohypnol, Vulbegal), brotizolam (Lendormin) & the tablet form of 15mg midazolam (Flormidal, Dormicum, though the latter is inferior and way too expensive, unlike flunitrazepam which costs peanuts).
Mail order is most probably my best bet, though I've only experienced that method domestically and from Belgium & Hungary, unfortunately meaning that, not having been dispensed in person, I can not use my EHIC which would cut costs so much that €3 would buy 90 of either flunitrazepam or triazolam.
Please, someone help out befote this current insomnia drives me insane. I'm already halfway there!

I'm sorry that it seems no one has any suggestions.

Most doctors would be reluctant to prescribe without seeing you in person and if the prescription is going to be filled in another country, since there are so many laws involved and it could result in their losing their license.

Have you tried switching doctors, again?

Wow, you've been on quite a list of rare meds...at least rare in the U.S. where I live. Barbiturates and methaqualone are rarely prescribed due to the high risk of death by respiratory depression that is not present with benzos. Here, doctors prescribe zolpidem or eszopiclone for insomnia.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe try joining one of the pharmacy review forums on the internet? If you post frequently enough, you can get access to the private boards where better pharmacies are listed that offer meds like the ones you're seeking. (Mostly benzos and weak pain meds; not potent barbiturates or methaqualone unless you get really lucky).

PharmChemie last year of manufacturing Toquilone Capsules 250 mg of methaqualone and 25 mg of diphenhydramine was last made in Switzerland in the year 2007. PharmChemie produced this med since the year 1965, for a total of 42 years!!! It was the very last ethical pharmaceutical maker, (source the Martindale Extra Pharmacopoeia, London UK) of 6,000 drugs, and, of 180,000 proprietary products in now 43 countries of the modern industrialized world. Prior to that, Spain, had two pharmaceutical manufacturers making methaqualone until as recently the early decade of the year 2000+ "Pallidan" by Berna was one of the two patented tradenames of methaqualone for Spain. I have had some acquaintances, who were able to get, their prescription filled in Belgium as recently as the year 2011, of Toquilone Capsules, from a independent pharmacy, as often the expiration dates on a mfg supply of a ethical pharm sedative may last for as long as 60 months. Independent pharmacies worldwide, have more choices whether to return a deleted med from their pharmacy shelves, vs comparing this to a USA chain pharmacy. "Especially individually owned pharmacies, by the owner/proprietor/pharmacist". I am not clear if this Belgium pharmacy was a regular pharmacy or a compounding pharmacy nor its target specific location. It is now, over 5 years later in time.

My last prescription for a controlled substance in Western Europe, from PharmChemie stated on this box of a benzodiazepine, that, this Dutch pharmacy, dispensed to me a benzo, from a Dutch MD, and, the box of blister pack meds stated Pharmchemie B.V. of the Netherlands was now a division of Teva of Israel. I do not know if Pharmchemie still exists as a stand alone manufacturer in Switzerland or not. I do know that the Swiss were the last legal manufacturers of methaqualone in the world. Pharm Chemie once had a plant even on the island of Cyprus, many years ago. My insert says Pharmchemie B.V. Postbus 552, 2003 RN haarlem for Diazepam 10 PCH tabletten insert also says "A member of the TEVA Group". Dispensed in Amsterdam in 2015. In USA, some "orphan drugs are not listed in traditional books like USA PDR or international Martindale, but is listed in USA Redbook, a prescription, very expensive online prescription service, that lists orphan drugs, such as generic drugs, or, seldom prescribed un advertised, ethical pharmaceuticals, in the USA proper. Other powerful sedatives, the similar controversial Glutethimide, was also last made by two ethical pharmaceutical manufacturers both in Hungary and in Romania, but both manufacturers, Egis, and, Terapia, both stopped production of these drugs at the end of the year 2006/ thru calendar year 2007. Tardyl and Glutimide. In USA, Glutethimide, was only produced by William H Rorer, and by successor Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, during a 1990 merger, and when the USA DEA reclassified Doriden to a C-II from a C-III in November of 1991, the last pharmacy I could find that had any Doriden 500mg, white scored tablets was in the 1st quarter of 1993. Most chain pharmacies sent any unused stock back to the wholesaler or the mfg rep for store credit, but a few independent pharmacies kept the stock until the last pills were dispensed (USA).

I have earlier commented on the several meds that are worldwide extinct, that the above posters desired. One exception, is history, but, a highly publicized, illicit, but 100% pharmaceutical pure via GC/MS tests was a USA factory in Brooklyn NY and
in Emeryville CA, (near Berkeley California) of a 2007 to April 10 of year 2010, operation of capsule copies of the old Mandrax formula, or the Toquilone Comp formula of Methaqualone 250mg with 25 mg of diphenhydramine, called "Operation Lude Behavior" the DEA of the USA with various law enforcement via media etc. April of 2010 discovered a kingpin originally from Turkey, who, was manufacturing over 100,000 capsules of high grade methaqualone, distributed exclusively, to the
underground to patrons of NYC and of San Francisco CA, in the only "bust" of "real" Methaqualone since the year 1985 in the USA. The news article, I had once for years, was very detailed, about the long running covert operations and the arrest of
the owner and other individuals, and chemists, who allegedly sold the methaqualone for as high as US $35.00 per capsule!!! The drug is so extremely tightly regulated even the two necessary chemicals to manufacture, the high grade methaqualone, truly boggles the mind, how long these individuals got away with this for again a estimated 36 months. Millions of dollars of a Manhattan penthouse, and lots of cash, and, felony arrests were made, when this "bust" went down I believe the 1st 10 days of April of the year 2010!!!

Regarding other meds you desire, Flunitrazepam continues to be restricted more and more, since the bad press in the USA about 20 years ago! As of the year 2014, it was still legally available in a shrinking number of about 14 countries left in the modern industrialized world, The only time I had any was in the year 2015, and it was, only 1 mg and was manufactured
by Sandoz of Africa, To spare a wall of text, the most concentrated countries left are in Western Europe, not the UK, and target specific countries even there. "Greece" had the most manufacturers of Flunitrazepam in the year 2014 under a proprietrary
protected tradename."6 different manufacturer's including the brand name Vulbegal. Roche stopped manufacturing the 2 mg size many years ago, but still mfg the 1 mg size tablets.

Halcion, by Pfizer, is rarely prescribed in USA, but is more available in 25 other countries besides the USA. Italy, New Zealand, and Malaysia have the unique status of each region having at least two proprietary protected brand names in the modern industry world of 43 countries. I cannot publish my sources as I do not have permission by the various medical publishers, nor of the media source, to abide by rules of this forum and, just not having permission, but I have huge heavy books that weigh per set of over 5 kilos each! Also very expensive books IMHO but are very accurate the date of publication.

Brotizolam is available in 15 countries, which my source only lists brand name or proprietary names as this is a relatively newer generation hypnotic. I had a prescription for it once, obtained it in the Netherlands. IMHO I could tell no remarkable difference from Sanofi Ambien or Sanofi Stilnox, with the med "Lendormin" tabs.

Finally, Midazolam, discovered by the late, brilliant Roche chemist Leo Sternbach, in the year 1982, it is the most widely available of the meds you desired, as of 2014 available in 36 of the 43 countries represented in my ethical pharmaceutical source. "It is not available in tablet form in the USA", nor is the hypnotic "Lendormin" as of February of 2014. By the way, Roche has the patent to call midazolam maleate "Dormicum". The 3 top selling countries of midazolam are Brazil, Argentina both with six (6) different proprietary trade name ethical pharma mfg., and, the top country with 7 different proprietary ethical pharma manufacturers is "Indonesia".
