Topzole/stomach Ulcer

I was diagnosed In February this year with a haemorrhaging stomach ulcer. Biopsies showed no H-Pylori and no cancer but some baterial activity. I have no typical ulcer symtoms no pain and no acid reflux. I have been treated with anti-biotics and flagil plus a blood transfusion in February and again in June on account of red blood cell count being below 7. I have also been on Topzole since February and the dose of Topzole has been doubled since June.

Since I do not suffer from acid reflux is Topzole the correct drug for me? I am 75 years old and am now worried about breaking bones. I am a bit dizzy, with itchy skin and often have hot flushes. Can hot flushes be side effect of Topzole?

PLEASE could you advise me as to what I should do.

Yes, this medication will help treat any condition caused by excess stomach acid, not just reflux. It is a proton pump inhibitor, so it reduces the amount of stomach acid that you produce.

Yes, it can cause hot flashes as a side effect, in some people that take it.

And while there is a risk of hip fractures if it's taken long term, you would be at much greater risk if you don't take it and that ulcer doesn't heal up.

Are you also watching your diet?
