Hi, my baby started having seizures a month ago so has been put on topamax. They started him on 15mg which after three weeks seemed to finally settle him. He has started having seizures again so it has been uped to 25mg. He is very irritable and who knows what else as he is obviously a baby and cannot express himself. For anyone else out there who ups thier dosage-how long does it take to get used to the new dose. I the seeing my baby boy so upset.

Hello, Carrie! How is your son? I'm very sorry about the seizures.
Each time the dosage is raised, it will take about 4 weeks, for his body to adjust and for the side effects to taper off and improve.
Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, headache and weight gain.
