Tooth Extraction Infection Amoxicillin

I have had seven teeth extracted a week ago. I am on amoxicillin 500 3 times a day as I have an infection and in terrible pain! I have been on them for 3 days, almost 4. How long until the infection clears and the pain stops? Also is corsodyl mouth wash good for healing of the gums after extractions? Thanks.

I had one infected tooth extracted and it took at least a week for bad pain to go away and ten another week for swelling. It's been three weeks today and tenderness finally gone.

You should be starting to see improvement of the infection by now, it usually only takes about 3 days of taking the antibiotic. Thus, if there's been no change and you're still in pain, please return to your doctor, you may need to try a different antibiotic.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

I wouldn't suggest using a mouthwash, unless your dentist has instructed you to do so. You already have a miserable infection, so it may cause more pain and irritation.
