Tooth Abscess

I've taken 30 amoxicillin and an entire z pack for my tooth abscess bit still having ALOT of pain, some swelling and still cannot open my jaw far enough for my dentist to extract the tooth, it's been 2 weeks now and though some relief it's still pretty bad! Any idea how long if ever will I be able to get this horrid thing or of my mouth??!! Pleeeeeeeeez help I'm just totally beaten down with this???????????? any help would be appreciated greatly

It sounds like those antibiotics were not the right ones to help you. Did you dentist try taking a swab for a culture?

The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.

It can't be extracted, while you are still in severe pain and an infection is present, because nothing will numb it. Thus, if they try, you will feel the entire thing, as reported by the NIH. I've experienced this myself and, trust me, I'd not wish such an experience on anyone else.

In extreme cases, they can put you out in the OR and have an oral surgeon do the removal, while you are under anesthesia.
