Yes, it is an antibiotic and is effective at treating many types of infections.

The issue, however, is that if you have a bad tooth that's causing an infection, it can help clear up the infection, but will not fix the underlying problem. You will need to see a dentist for that.

You also need to make sure that you have enough of the antibiotic to finish a full course of it, or run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Which is better for a a wisdom tooth that is broken and exposing the root. The tooth is infected and it is causing pain all down the side of that jaw. I have cefdinir cap 300 mg and generic Bactrim DS. I was out of insurance for a while, I had quit work to take care of my mom during her last years, and my husbands insurance did not have dental. My insurance will go into effect Oct 1st and will make an appt. on the second. I know the tooth will have to be cut out. I already went in and had it x-rayed a while back. Even have the name of the dental surgeon. Just want to get over this flair up and want to take the antibiotic that will do the better job so I'm not taking more and longer than I need to be.
