Too Much Tussigon For Dog?

My 13 pound dog takes 1/2 of a 5mg/1.5mg hydrocodone pill every 8 hours to control coughing. However, in taking her other pills, I accidentally included another 1/2 of a 5mg/1.5mg after she had one 4 hours ago. Is this cause for the panic and alarm I'm feeling?

You should call your vet and tell them what happened, they will be best able to asses whether or not there is any danger to your dog, and if possible treatment is required.

While we love dogs, and have two small pups ourselves, I am nowhere near as knowledgeable about the use of medication in canines as I am about medication usage in people, unfortunately.

I do, however, know that it can cause some of the same side effects, and overdose effects in dogs, that it does in humans, so you should watch for severe lethargy, drowsiness, sedation, and shallow breathing.
