Generally, you should take the missed dose, as soon as you remember and only skip it, if it's close to the time for your next dose. Otherwise, you take it and then get yourself back on schedule, unless your doctor instructs otherwise.
However, with such a medication, it would be best to take all doses on time.
Do you have a smart phone? If so, there are many free reminder apps that you can download that will remind you when it's time to take your medication. I use one on my iPhone all the time.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea.
