Tidvak Chemo Decision
UpdatedI have stage IVA metastatic cervical cancer which has gone to the wall of my bladder. Tidvak is the only treatment recommended by my doctor and the second opinion doctor. The side effects seem very scary and I have not been able to find any favorable reports from patients. I will need to make a decision when I get results from my scan on Tuesday. Is there anyone out there who has had good or at least tolerable results from this treatment?

Hi Nancy! How are you doing?
With such a serious diagnosis, it is always best to follow your doctor's recommendations. I understand that the side effects may be scary.
In this case the manufacturer has a very informative website with details on its efficacy, side effects, and etc.
Tivdak Website
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, hair loss, dry eye, and diarrhea.
Which ones are scaring you? Maybe addressing those can help you feel better about your treatment.
Re: VerFree (# 1)
Here is one. Lung problems. TIVDAK may cause severe or life-threatening inflammation of the lungs that can lead to death. Also, I already have peripheral neuropathy, take a blood thinner and have stage 3 kidney disease, three things which also can be affected by side effects of Tidvak. Also, I am just recovering from decreased red blood cell and white blood cell counts from my previous chemotherapy and my hair has just grown out enough to stop wearing head covers. The eye problems that occur from this treatment will probably be forestalled by my ophthalmologist who will be seeing me before every transfusion, but I already have glaucoma.
Re: Nancy (# 2)
I started the Tidvak chemotherapy on Tuesday. The session went well. I used ice mittens, booties, ice cap and eye goggles. We changed them out once during the infusion. The only noticeable side effect I got was a definite increase of numbness and glove effect on my right ankle and lower calf. I will add ice to that area for my next infusion.
