According to a medical test i had undergone recently, it was written that my T3 and T4 secretions were allright. But the secretion of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) was less (my TSH was found to be 5.98 uIU/ml, wherease as written in the report, in adults it is found to be 0.27 to 4.2 uIU/ml). So, as prescribed by the doctor, each morning, i am taking one tablet of Thyroxine Sodium Tablets IP, whose each uncoated tablet contains-- Thyroxine Sodium IP equivalent to anhydrous Thyroxine Sodium 25mcg Synthetic thyroid Hormone. At present i do not take any other medicine or never in my life have i consumed any long term medicine as such. What i want to know, is that in taking this thyroxine sodium tablets IP, is there any side effects? Will it harm my body's normal functioning in any way? Is it good or bad for my physical and mental health?

l-thyroxine treats hyper and hypothyroid? How - little teeny bit for hyper and more for hypo? Then how is thyroid storm treated?

Raani, yes, as odd as it may seem, Levothyroxine can be successfully used to treat both types of Thyroid problems, Hyperthyroid and Hypothyroid. It can help the levels of hormones return to normal levels, for people that suffer from either one.

There are several medications that work in this manner, such as when we give stimulants to a hyperactive child and it actually calms them down. It doesn't seem to make sense, but it works.

Hi.. i am taking thyroxine sodium tablets ip 25mcg.. i am having problem in having a baby..so i went to adoc and she says i am having this thyroid peoblems and she gave this pills.. its being more then six months still no improvemens.
What may be the possible eeasons???

I am veena, age 28. I have taken a blood test for my thyroid: T3 - 1.22 ng/ml, T4 - 9.4 ng/dl, TSH - 13.04 UIO/ml. Report dated 28.12.2015. Presently i taken Thyroxide sodium tablets and IP thyronorm - 25mcg tablets. Please suggest me can i increase the mcg of these tablets?
