why is the dosage of levthyroxine lowered when you blood test reads a low thyroid level ## Are you certain the dose was lowered for this reason? Was it possibly lowered because the levels are where they should be? This is used to treat low levels of thyroid hormones, so lowing the dose if they are low would make no sense.

I started taking this drug about 8 weeks ago. After 6 weeks my blood was checked and levels were still high so my doctor increased the dosage to 50 mcg's a day. I have had diarrhea for the entire time of taking the 50 mcgs of this drug. Emergency diarrhea. I told my doctor and she said to stop for one day then start back with 25 mcgs. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worried? It is somewhat embarrassing to have this because all I know is at least 5 times a day I will have explosive diarrhea. ## my level was on the low side of high but taking this medication has not been good for me and now I am on metformin for diabetes from my new doctor and she says that now my level is one is high and one is low so I have to have more blood tests but she thinks I should come off of t...

They were sent to me by mail order and are supposed to be levothyroxine, but I am doubtful ## Based on your description I have not found an exact match. I have, however seen something extremely similar to what you're describing. It is a round yellow pill with JSP on one side and 516 on the other side. This just happens to be Levothyroxine 0.1 mg. Do you think it is possible that the score mark which you reported is actually supposed to be the number 1 ? Please let me know if you have any other details...
I have been taking euthyrox 100 for more than 8 yrs to shrink my goiter, but, I have noticed that my goiter;s size is increasing. Is there other medicine to shrink my goiter faster? Ay responses will highly be appreciated. Thanks! ## Euthyrox contains the active ingredient Levothyroxine, a thyroid hormone. There are several medications on the market used to treat Thyroid issues and goiter, however, you will need a prescription for all of them and can only find out if they are right for you to try by discussing it with your doctor. In most cases, after long-term use, our body adjusts to a certain dosage of a medication and it is no longer as effective. After 8 years at this dosage, this may be what you are experiencing and you may require a dosage adjustment. Have you spoken to your doct...

I'm 30 years old and this is my third day on 0.1 MG of Levo. It was given to me becuase my TSH is 5.8. I'm a very active person I run 30 miles a week and swim 3 times week 20 laps each time. I've always been between 115-125lbs. I like to be at the lower end of that (I'm 5'0) but I find it hard to stick to strict diets, I've always been very hungry. I also tend to be depressed, and have had very painful, periods. So I hope Levo will help me with these things. I take the dose in the morning and then, about 15 min later I just want to go to sleep. This is the only thing the drug has done so far-- I feel find otherwise-- but why is it making me so sleepy? Anyone else have this? It only lasts for about two hours. Is this a sign that I don't have the right dose? ##...

i AM 29, FEMAL I HAVE BEEN TAKING LEVOTHYROXIN 25 MIICGRAM PER DAY, i ALSO TAKE ANTIDEPRESSANT AT NIGT TIME , IF ANY ONE TELL ME WHEN i CAN FEEL BETTER FOR MY HYPOTHROISIM ## I would question why you are taking an antidepressant as well. Dr's put me on those BEFORE i was diagnosed with hypothryroidism. They said i was clinically depressed. Not until the severe exhaustion, hair falling out by the handfuls, nails brittle and breaking all the time, periods like you would not believe, did they diagnose me correctly .hypothryoid. Depression comes along with hypothroidism. Once you are on the pills, your moods will be stabalized. Please check into this, take it into your own hands if it is prescribed (the depression drugs), for just that (ie not bipolar drugs etc). Too many people - esp.,...

I had a total thyroidectomy a little over a year ago followed by radioactive iodine just to be sure it was all dead and gone. Before my thyroid cancer I was in pretty good shape as I am a college athlete. Since the surgery I have gained 20 to 30 pounds. People said once I got my tsh levels right I would lose the weight but I only stopped gaining, not losing. My doctor sais they are where they need to be and I am done going up but I do not feel much better than I did before. I still have the fatigue, constipation, extreme heartburn, and brain fog. Is this permanent or are my levels really off and just not showing? HELP! I'm still in college and my grades are really taking a hit from all this! ## Well, you did not say what dosage you were on and this site is not medical professionals,...

I've been taking Levothyroxine for a bout a month and a half because I had a hyper thyroid and had to have radation to stop my thyroid. I feel much better, but I'm scared of becoming fat. My container says, Take medication on an empty stomach 1HR before or 2-3 hours after a meal. Does this mean it's okay if I take it at 5:30 am and then go back to sleep 'til 9am? Or do I HAVE to eat exactly an hour afterwards. It's very hard to gage when I'm going to be eating or not. Often after a meal, I might still have a snack within an hour. I've never been a meal kind of person. I like to graze throughout the day. It's not like I'm as big as a cow. I'm 5'1 and 3/4'' and 101 lbs. It's very strange to go from 84 lbs. to 101 in just 2 months. I&...
