I'm 23 years old. I'm prescribed 2mg clonazapem 3 times a day, 2 norco 500s 2 times a day for breakthrough pain, 2 Oxycontin 15 mg a day and 2 15 mg; and next month my Oxycontin will have gone up to 20 mg a day. I will be prescribed these the rest of my life due to arthritis and a broken patella from having surgery. I'm not a drug seeker, I just don't understand why my doctor prescribes the strongest pain killer for me?

Hello, Collin! How are you?
If you don't want your dose raised to 20mgs, you are free to inform the doctor of that, if you're doing fine on the lower dose. You're also free to tell him that you don't want to take it, at all.
But this is not the strongest opiate available, there are others that are stronger than Oxycodone. It really sounds like your doctor is just trying to help you manage your pain and keep it under control.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
