The Use Of Dilaudid

Can a person who has detoxes from opiates be given Dilaudid for pain? My son has been sent to the ER from rehab and I heard the nurse say that's what they are waiting on.

Yes, if the doctor deems it appropriate.

Dilaudid is classified by the FDA as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

That doesn't mean that he will become instantly addicted, or that they will prescribe a long-term supply. They usually just dose the person at the ER and send them on their way.
