I am a long time ccpain patient. I was tried on alot of meds but the Oxycontin80 worked best. I have spent a fortune over the years to get the right meds regimene. Just from what I have been through over the last 2 months is indescribable. I had to take correctly cause gone is gone . I have bitten in hal fbefore.Month 1 I thought maybe there would be an adjustment no info from dr. or Pharmacy about change.I had a few I try to always save some whwnever possible, in case of emergency I mean 1 here 1 there along time to get 10. I got those from my daughter she hold any or I would take them.I really thought I would adjust and after trying so many things that did not work I was more than hoping that this would be temporary.I got them a 2nd month. Things rapidly where getting worse. I was getting extremely sick just trying to take these things.I went 3 days without them, and normally I would have been in withdrawl, and did have alot of symptoms, but some where not there. I've been on a lot of different meds trying to find out what works best physically financially ect.I have now changed my meds to morphine straight up. Not my permanant dose but like always a starter dose. I was afraid of change because like I said alot of things that work for other poeple fentlanly patch kadian even methedone just never worked. I opted for the morphine because I went to a VA er so sick I felt like I wanted to die on these things. I called Pharma perdue, they where suppose to send me paper work it's been a month no response. I e-Mailed fda no response either. When I asked my Dr. to change my meds he said it conserned him because they only took out wht makes you euphoric. What is that? Also the binders they are using are against the law every other country. They have been studied in Britian and cause cancer. My Dr. did tell me they they where not just tamper resistant as far as the new way they are made but also contain a tamper resistant drug in them that releases upon tampering so that opoids cannot be effective hence the OP and not oc this is not the same drug.In 4 days I am a new person, I had severe migraines, no pain relief stomache burning even with the same pain relief I couldn't have took them MY mouth was so dry I felt like I could not swallow. SERIOUSLY It is my opinion they are weeding out the pain pts. from the abuseres and weening a nation of misuse. If you tamper with them nothing else is going to work right then anyway!

Actually, your doctor was incorrect, they did not take anything out of the medication.

What they did was change the formulation to make it harder to abuse. If someone tries to crush or chew it, it turns into a gummy goo that retains its time released properties.

However, there have been many complaints that it is not as effective as the original product and that it causes odd side effects.

If you haven't gotten the paperwork from Purdue, yet, I suggest calling and reporting the problem to the FDA:

FDA MedWatch number:

800-332-1088

There is also nothing in them that reduces their effectiveness if you try to tamper with them, just the ability to retain their time releases properties. Or that is all they have released to the public and medical professionals, anyway.

Are there any questions or comments?
