The New Laws For Pa? Any Philly People Know Of This Issue? (Top voted first)
UpdatedHello...I sadly am on a regime on percocet. I am on a low dose and have been on for a very long time. My primary writes it, usually.
I do go to pain management but they do not prescribe narcotics and my primary had been the one to write my percocet for me-I left it at that. Both doctors are aware of my regime and the PM doctor sends his reports to my primary doctor. The PM doctor gave me injections. They only help occasionally it's not cortisone it's something that blocks the nerves?
I went to pick up my monthly script when I was told PA laws have changed so I have to find a pain management doctor that will write for narcotics because the primary now only can do so 3 or so times? I was told this at my regular Rite Aid pharmacy.
So, what can I do? I don't know if this month is one of my 3 so I at least only have 2 months left and a lot of doctors don't want to deal with it. I am doing eveything I am told to by both doctors and PM is okay with me taking percocet-it's just "office policy". Anyone in the Philly area know of a good PM doctor? My doctor is reasonable just not close...it's hard when you are on a medicaid hmo and applying for SSI.

Hello, Clara! How are you doing? Have you found a doctor, yet?
That law isn't just relevant to PA, the regulations have changed throughout the country, so everyone is dealing with this type of issue.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Have you tried asking your PCP if they can refer you to someone else that can help? That might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need.
Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
Yes hon. It's true that law was passed about 2 years ago, some state are playing catch up. My husband went to a primary care Dr. That just happen to write PK. Ok I'm in TN so Drs. Here write more then most state, anyway he got 120 roxy 30s and 90 perc.10mgs he went in one day and hie Dr. Told him ONLY PM could know write scripts for PM. Like you said they may write you hydro or Perc. 1-3 times then that's it. It stopped in June lucky his appointment landed so he picked up 3 scripts. The government is trying to kill off all the addicts by pushing them to use H. It's awful.
