The antibiotics in it, the Polymyxin B and the Oxytetracycline aren't really going to help, if that's what you're looking for, because cold sores are caused by a virus, not a bacterial infection.

The Lidocaine may help with some pain, if it's sore, but that and keeping it moisturized is really all this ointment is going to do.
