Telmisartan & Metoprolol Succinate Er Tablets Mt- 50 Verification

I had high bp since last 3 years i was on atenolol salt. it helped me but since july 2011 it was not effective. then doctor put me on telmisarton & metoprolol succinate i.e TELZY MT 50 i was also suffering from mild lvh and RBBB. AFTER one month my bp became 120-80 and no other comlications and i am still feeling the same bp 120-80 and feeling normal. ther is no swelling of ankles or anywhere else. but on serum test my creatinine level has increased to 123 and e gfr reduced to 55. in july this was 85 and 95. doctor is of opinion that this is because of this medicine. i also take fenofibrate and atorvastatin i od. kindly advise rise in creatinine with in 6-7 months

How you used to calculate e GFR & at what frequency (month/year) you calculate same. There is generally a need to repeat blood test e.g. seram creatinine, urea,uric acid, electrolyte &other tests (prescribed by nephrologist) when creatinine is on higher side (>1.5). Also if don't mind what is your age. Somewhere I have seen there is a relation that at age atenolol is not effective (might be wrong). what is ur medicines for BP & renal now.

Did your doctor suggest any alternative medications or changing the dosages?

He is probably right as to what's causing the elevated levels, there are reasons they do blood tests to check regularly while you are taking these types of medications. They are known to cause such problems in some people and then their medications usually need to be adjusted, or changed.
