Talacen Drug Availability
UpdatedWhy don't they prescribe Talacen anymore? It helped with my broken back.

Hi Dana,
I'm not finding any specific details on why it's been discontinued, but my guess is that it's because Talacen contained 650 mgs of Acetaminophen.
As of 2014, the FDA passed a law saying that 325 mgs was the new maximum allowed dose to be in these types of medications.
A lot of the more popular drugs like Norco and Percocet have lowered their standard dose to meet those requirements. However, if the makers of Talacen didn't want to do this, then that could be a likely reason for them to stop producing more.
Has anyone else heard why it was taken off the market?
