Is it safe to take (2) tramadol + tylenol #3 together? What would happen? Will I need to go to the doctor?

@Worried In Texas,

If this drug combination and dosage is more than you're prescribed, I think it would be best to discuss it with your doctor first.

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, there is a high potential for drug interactions between Tramadol and the Codeine present in Tylenol #3. They go on to state the following:

"Treatment with both codeine and this drug may increase the risk of certain serious side effects. Using codeine together with this drug is usually not recommended, but may be required in some cases. If you are already using both medicines together, your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both of the medicines. Call your doctor if you feel confused, drowsy, or lightheaded, have fainting spells or a decreased ability to concentrate, have difficult or slow breathing, or have pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin."

I noticed that you posted your message a little over a month ago, back on June 25th, 2017. Have you already started taking both meds?
