Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 30) (Top voted first)

My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

STRONGARM: That is incorrect. Buprenorphine ITSELF is a partial opioid antagonist (block). Subutex and Suboxone are basically the same drug, in relation to what they do in the addict brain. The bioavailability of Naloxone is only about 5% when taken sublingually, (as opposed to 100% when injected), and therefore it is the BUPE ITSELF that does the "blocking". I went through precipitated withdrawals from Subutex, NOT Suboxone. Your comment is 100% incorrect.

NUNA: Taking the Percocet AFTER being on Subutex won't throw you into withdrawal, but taking the Subs too soon AFTER the Percs will. And when you say "it's an opiate".. to what are you referring? Every drug you mentioned in your comment is an opioid, so ???

DADA: You should be ok. With Percocet, I would say 12 hours minimum. Stronger opioids like Oxycodone, I would wait at LEAST 24 hours (unless the medication is really bad quality). I don't know how much Subutex you're on, but start slow. Take 2 milligrams, wait 30 minutes. If you are ok, take another 2mgs, wait... do that until you are back up to your normal dose.

When I went thru precipitated withdrawal, it didn't take long to know I was in trouble. I had 2 mgs under each side of my tongue... in about 15 minutes, I started feeling worse and worse and WORSE... Ugh. So just take it SLOW.

I been on Tex’s for over 2 years it’s fine to take whites with pain pills whites as in the 54111s or m924s on other hand the orange or cherry flavors with the 2mg blocker will kick u in detoxs the ones with out the 2mg r perfectly safe to take while on or after perks

I have finally figured out you can't talk to stupid you just can't they're going to do whatever they want to do. Let them get sick as hell and then they may listen. If you're going to take the subs take the subs and just move on. This is ridiculous I think sometimes people are just trying to kill themselves. Just unreal.

I have a couple of Subutex (54 411) and I’m wondering firstly if it is okay to take one (or just partial about 8 hours after taking oxycodone? Will it work, or make me sick? I am just wanting to take a little so I don’t go into withdrawals at work the next day while I’m waiting for my hydrocodone script to be filled. Secondly, how long do I have to wait after taking Subutex to take hydrocodone?

i took 3/4 subutex this morning and took one 1 and 1/2 perc a cpl hrs later and really dnt feel like I got enough subutex it's like 5 hrs since taking the perk do you think it is safe t take more of my subutex now?

I have been taking hydros and oxys for about 4 years or so now -the last year I take on average 50mg/day. I have not been able to be without them. The last 3 days I have tried subutex and taken about 4-6mg daily and been fine. I'm wanting to take a hydro, not sure if it is safe, if/when it will even do anything

There is no narcan in suboxone...period! You are confusing narcan with naloxene. Naloxene is an opiate antagonist and that is what makes you sick if you are mixing. The presence of naloxene in suboxone is the only thing that makes it different from subutex

You won't have withdraws mixing opioids and subutex at all now if you have just started taking subutex of course it will make you sick most people do get sick but that's not from withdraws its just like most opioid medications like roxy's or lortab's they tend to make you sick to your stomach expecally at first but the more you take it the less the nausea will occur and if you can get ahold of promethazine you won't have to worry about getting sick to your stomach or vomiting at all but another point I'd like to say is the more large doses of subutex you do day to day will bind to your opiate receptors and when you mix the opioids with it will give you a headache cause your receptors are filled with subutex and the opioids bounce off of the receptors trying to attach but can't cause there already filled up to the max from the subutex witch is why you get headaches from mixing the two

ANNA: I went into full-blown precipitated withdrawal from SUBUTEX, not SUBOXONE. The BUPE ITSELF is also an "opiate blocker" and can and will throw you into withdrawal if taking in doses over 16 mgs, too soon after full agonist opioids. Please do a bit more research before posting as if you are some kind of expert on Buprenorphine. Because if someone actually LISTENS to you, they could be in for a world of hurt.

For every "expert" on here who things "as long as there's no narcan in it blah blah blah....." UGH!!! SUBUTEX OR SUBOXONE, the DRUG ITSELF is a "blocker"... the bioavailabililty of Naloxone sublingually is like 10 percent, and is in there to keep people from taking it intravenously. It is the BUPE ITSELF that is the damned "blocker". If any of you throw yourself into precipitated withdrawals from listening to these *****S, then I guess it's on you. "I've been on this for 10 years and I know ALL about it!!!" No, you obviously DON'T!!! Un flipping real.

I think the pharmacy gave you the wrong type of subutext, one has a blocker in it and the other doesn't.

AHU: Subutex and Suboxone are no different in how they affect or interact with full-agonist opioids. They can BOTH cause withdrawals when taken too soon after the opioids because it is the BUPE ITSELF that causes this. not the Naloxone. The Naloxone is only in Suboxone to keep people from taking Bupe intravenously; it's bioavailability is less than 5% when taken sublingually.
