Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 2)

My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

Its easy and simple: subutex and percocet can be taken together without withdrawls. You WILL NOT get a euphoric feeling like when you take percs alone. Suboxane: take a perc then wait about 3 hours to take suboxane. If you take the suboxane first, wait 6-8 hours to take a perc so you don't get sick. Suboxane shelf life is 24 hours its half life is 12. This means it'll take 12 hours after taking suboxane before you will feel the euphoric feeling of percs and 24 hours until it is completely out of your system.

I am not giving out any medical information. I have been taking Subutex for 5 years. It is simple, Subutex causes withdrawal if you have abused opiates, OR have taken opiates for weeks uninterrupted. It is very strange that any Doctor would prescribe Subutex AND Percocet! Subutex kicks all opiates off of the receptors and it will not work with the same efficiency for up to Five days after you have taken the Subutex depending on dosage.

Suboxone only causes withdrawal if you have been taking Percocet for weeks uninterrupted and have become dependent on it. To test, stop taking Percocet and wait three days. If you are crawling out of your skin (not just in pain) you are dependent. If you take a Subutex while you are still feeling crappy you will stop the withdrawal! If you take more Percocet and get to feeling better, do NOT take the Subutex, it will send you into withdrawal and nothing can stop it!
Taking Subutex can cause withdrawal.
Taking Percocet cannot cause withdrwal.
Stopping either will cause withdrawal.
All holds true ONLY if you are dependent on either. Make sense?

Good Lord. The Buprenorphine is what makes you feel better, the Naloxone is only there to prevent people from injecting it as that is the only way naloxone works. When taken subligually the naloxone does not cross the blood barrier. Bupe will knock off any other opiate sending you into withdrawal. All you have to do is forget the naloxone unless you're injecting it! The bupe will make you go into withdrawal if you are opiate dependent.

Nope, you will not even feel the Percocet. The only way to go into withdrawal is to abuse or be dependent on opiates and then take a Subutex without haveing withdrawal symptoms. You absolutely CANNOT go into withdrawal if you take Bupe and then take an opiate. The other way is fine and does work a little on pain, but while taking subutex the percs wont work well.

You must be in withdrawal before taking anything with Bupe in it! If not you go full in withdrawal and it will be very uncomfortable.

i have been taking morphine sulphate 90mg a day tablets.i want to start on subutex instead of the morphine sulphate tabs.i have subutex but i am worried if i take it first thing when i wake and i still have the morphine sulphate in my system i will go straight into withdrawals.is this right please help

No. You won't get any effect from the Percs. Subutext blocks all opiates. No effect what so ever. Your Doctor doesn't know what he's doing. You won't have withdrawals because Subutex and Suboxen are vary different. Suboxen will give you withdrawals not Subutex. Trying to help.l

For the record let me start by saying I'm an addict. I was on 180mg of Methadone Aday for 8 years. And I kicked it. After the worst withdrawals you can go through.worst than heroin. About 4 to 5 days into them the Doctor put me on Subutex and it took about 2 to 3 days to stop the w/d's. After that I felt better than I have felt in years. I had to have a medical procedure done. So I had to stop taking Subutex. I read all the lie's and bulls*** about how you would suffer horrible w/d's. That is a lie. I had hardly any w/d's. Slight vary minor. It was nothing. Everything I read was a lie. I went through it like a champ. So if your thinking about getting of Subutex don't worry. It is nothing like the post written here. You'll be fine. I all most didn't get back on Subutex. But because it does stop cravings I jumped on it. I was taking 16 Mgs aday. Subtext saved my life flat out. So don't believe any of this crap. There taking something else. I take only Subutex and that's it. So that's my story.

I was on methadone,went to the dr for idunction, he gave me subutex. I was soo sick. yes subitex, not suboxone. its been 3 weeks. I feel muvh better but it did put me in withdrawl no matter how many more I took after my first dose. maybe its just because I was on methadone. dont know. it was terrible! oh, and my dr promised me it would only lasg 20 min. haha. NOT!

If you want to take Percs why would you want Subutex too?????makes no sense. If you want to be straight take the Subutex only. Nothing else. It will stop the cravings, and withdrawals. Proven fact. I know personally. I choose to think right, not high and goofy. I guess it's depends on ones needs. You can't be half sober. One or the other. I wish you well. Hope you deside to kick it. Subutex will change your life.

I take subutex all of the time within hours.of taking a perc. Feels great! I am not dependant on anything so idk if that makes a difference. But the sub after the perc is an awesome feeling.

Ok...i have been reading all of this stuff and am very confused. I have been taking percs 10mg for three months. Four a day for acute osteoarthritis. My dr just prescribed buprenorphine patches. I was also prescribed the percs and muscle relaxers. Should i put on the patch? She said i could still take the percs if i need them. Sounds scary! Please help!

Yesterday I took 3, 2mg subutex and I felt like it wasn't working for me (trying to get off doing 10+ 30mg of oxycodone) so I just started taking the 30s again, right away. No I did not go into withdrawal, and yes I felt the effects from it. Subutex does not block your opiate receptors so you can still do any other drug on it and still feel the effects. My suggestion is to try to take a non-narc drug for severe headaches. Addiction is no joke and if can be avoided, why not avoid? Good luck!

Ok i asked about the buprenorphine patches with percs. Patches...seven day patches...20mg patches with percs 10mg for acute osteoarthritis. Patches! Does any body knpw anything about the patches!

I've heard that the effects of narcan in Suboxone are very limited and that it is only efficent when the pill is liquified and IV'd. I've been on Subutex for over a year (opiate dependance problem) and it has worked wonders for me. Although, I ran out a bit early two days ago and a friend gave me a few Percoset to offset the withdrawals (if any, didn't expierence much. anxiousness- being in my head the most) I took the last one at about 11 AM today. it's 4:48 PM right now and I just got my Subutex script filled. Took my full 4 mg dose and I am not expierencing any pre anticipated withdrawals.. just feeling much better since being off of it for a few days. I don't know what the case is for others, everyone is different, but it didn't give me any negative side effects. sometimes i think it's just something they say to scare addicts.. good luck!

yes u can mix opiates with SUBUTEX, just not with SUBOXONE....subutex does NOT have the OPIATE BLOCKER in it....so the people saying youll get sick if take opiates with subutex are full of it... I know because im on subutex, and done it many many times.
