Taking Subutex After Methadone

Hi all, I am 39, male and am going to take 8 MG's Subutex after being on methadone for 4 years (I'm just over it, tired) 60 MG's next day took 30 MG's next day took 20mgs and finally 10 MG's to taper a bit. I then waited 43 hours and am in moderate withdrawal. I have been in much worse withdrawal then now but decided to go ahead with 8 MG's of sub now to see, lab rat style, if I precip or get relief. There seem to be many different experiences, some say 24 hours some say 72. I will try to give an update if I precip and will for sure if I don't. Fingers crossed, I hope its the latter. Any input or encouragement would be appreciated. I am determined to finally beat this thing, don't want to turn 40 and still be an active addict. Much love to all of you. Love all people, love all souls.

Omg! I did the same thing, but with suboxone and a Dr. told me to do it. It was the worst thing I've ever experienced. I'm sorry you had to go thru it.
Hi, I was just reading your post and I understand what you mean when you say I'm over it. I've been on the clinic over 13 years and it sucks. So, I wanted to see if you were able to successfully get off the methadone? I hope you did. It's horrible I never thought I would be on the clinic for 13 years.
Hi my name is Jason. I, not being informed decided I wanted to take subutex rather than remain on the 125 mg Methadone, my logic, broken as it was, is that subutex lacks naloxone, so I thought I would be fine. Wow, WTF! It was the worse 6 hours of my 36 years. My gf the Angel in this, googled the combo and gave me Xanax halves until I fell to sleep. The Xanax was a life saver. As I said it only lasted until my body metabolized the sub. If anyone is considering the switch please please seek professional help. If you don't you may experience the worse hell of your life OMG thank god for Xanax... Plz be save love y'all
How are you doing, AJ? Did you experience anymore withdrawal symptoms?
The general rule for starting Subutex is to be in full withdrawal, before taking it. The reason is due to the fact that the Buprenorphine takes a much stronger hold on the opiate receptors than other opiates, so it kicks them out, which can cause precipitated withdrawals. That may be 24 hours for some people, but 3 days or more for others, because it is individually variable.
The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
