Taking Second Round Of Bactrim

Cellulitis in middle finger at first knuckle. It may have an infected cyst. 2 days after Bactrim I switched to cephalexin for 7 days, then went back to Bactrim due to blood culture results 9 days later (90 to 95% cured but lingering). Should I take a second round of Bactrim? Also wasn't thinking when I took an alcohol based herb tincture. Would that affect the effectiveness of the antibiotic?

Hello, Anna! How are you? I'm sorry about the infection.

The alcohol wouldn't have altered its efficacy, but I can't speak as to the herbs, without knowing which ones were in it.

As to the antibiotic, you may actually need to take a combination to clear it up. What has your doctor suggested?

The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
