Taking Expired Temazepam
UpdatedCan I still take Temazepam that expired 9 years ago?

It doesn't become dangerous, once expired, but it will most likely have lost some of its efficacy.
Even when a medication is stored in the original, factory sealed packaging, it still expires in 4 to 5 years, and if it has been opened, and placed in a prescription bottle dispensed by your pharmacy, then its expiration date is a year from when it was dispensed.
Harvard Health has some great information available on expiration dates.
The way the medication has been stored in the intervening years can also play a role, exposure to heat, light, air, and moisture all aid in degradation.
It would be best to dispose of it, and see your doctor for a new prescription, if one is needed.

Is there anything else I can help with?
