Taking Dronis 30 Is There Any Side Effect

Hi,

My wife is taking thyrnorm 100 Mg to control the TSH level. The test sample 28 Aug she's TSH level 10.5 then doctor has advised to take

take thyrnorm 100 MG 1 tab mon to sat and 2 tab on sunday and also add throwel 1 capsule daily for 40 and also add two medicines for irregular periods

1- Glycomet SR- 500 two times for 30 days
2- Dronis 30 one tablet daily for 21 days to diagnos the irrregular preriods.

She has got seizured 4 years back and taking anti seizure tablet Topamac 25 mg twice a day and folvite 5 mg.

Please tell me dronis 30 and Glycomet 500 can daignos irregular period.

There is any side effect of topamac tablet during pregnancy.

Doctor told us we can't plan pregnacy during irregular periods.

Doctor has advised for following test (30,Sep) the result are given below:

1- SERUM Sample Type: Total Testosterone,Serum (Result) : 37.54 ng/dl

2- Anti Thyroid Antibodies (ATAB):
Anti Microsomal Antibody Result: > 1000.0 IU/ml Range: 2.4-8.0
Anti Thyroglobulin Antibody Result: > 93.0 IU/ml Range: 604-18.0

3- HbA1c Result: 5.6

4- 17-Hydroxyprogesterone Result: 0.88 ng/ml

Hi deepu,

Sorry to hear about your wife's condition. Those are a lot of medications to be taking at once, so I can understand your concern for possible side effects. But as far as period timing is concerned, Dronis 30 (Ethinyl Estradiol + Drospirenone) does in fact list "irregular menstrual periods" as a general side effect, due to changes in hormones that it brings about.

I haven't seen such side effects listed under any of the other medications you mentioned, so my guess is that the Dronis 30 may very well be the culprit here.

To answer your other question about using Topamac (Topiramate) during pregnancy, the FDA categorizes this drug under pregnancy category "D"; meaning that there has been sufficient evidence of human fetal risk, but also stating that the potential benefits of the drug may still warrant its use in pregnant women if your wife and doctor both agree that it's what's best for the situation at hand.
