Taking Antipsychotic Medication (abilify) + Sertraline And Gastric Band Surgery In Uk?

In UK, can a person still be eligible for gastric band surgery while taking abilify and sertraline? Would a good surgeon still perform gastric band surgery on such a patient? Patient is mentally stable for a number of years after being on this medication. Would doses have to be adjusted? Also would patient have to transfer from taking tablets to injections?

I think there are going to be quite a few different factors that come into play here and have an affect on the decision.

Such as, is the person of sound enough mind to make such a decision?

Then, there are also going to be questions of whether or not such medications can be continued, or need to be stopped for a period of time. A lot of that is going to depend on their overall health and how their mental state is if they don't take them for a few days.

Due to safety issues, even the best surgeons can't always make medication exceptions.

Have you tried asking a surgeon about these issues?
