I have some Talwin that I started taking for back pain and they seem to work really well. They are made by Winthrop, yellow with a w on one side and wt 51 on the other. Prescription dated 1994. Do you think taking these can do any harm?

Talwin contains Pentazocine, and Naloxone, it is used to treat pain, and to prevent the abuse of other medications, while someone is being treated with it.
The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
But at 20 years, while they aren't dangerous, they will likely not still be effective, so it would be best to dispose of them, and see your doctor for a new prescription, if needed.
