Taking Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800 160 Tabs 2x/day

can you have a seizure while taking this drug. i'm am on zonegram and have been for over seven years with no seizures. started taking sulfameth/trimethoprim 20 days ago & had a seizure today.

Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of infections.

And yes, seizures can be a rare, but serious side effect of this medication, especially in people that have experienced them, before. You need to contact your doctor immediately, as you will probably require a switch to a different antibiotic.

Taking Sulfamethoxazole/T twice daily for past four days for a UTI.. Also taking Alendronate sodium once per week with daily calcium supplements for past three months. I had a grande mal seizure yesterday before waking at 6 am. Only other seizure episodes occured 7 years ago with a complex partial seizure. Is the seizure related to my medication?

Hi, I had a very similar experience which really scared me primarily because I had the seizure awake and have always had, my whole life, nocturnal epilepsy. Since my doctor put me on Lamictal years ago I went many years with out them. Occasionally, one will break through if I am not diligent with taking my medication. Please tell me, did you resume abstinence again or did it chemically change something neurolically after you stopped taking it? Thank you for sharing your experience.
