Taking Silenor For Sleep

Taking silenor for sleeping. Have been taking it for three months.....take half of 3mg most of the time. Seems to give me just enough with the half to help with sleep. Can u take it every three or four days or so instead of every day? It does make me lightheaded, and do feel groggy in morning even with only half of Silenor. Thanks.

A next day hangover-like effect can be a side effect of Silenor (Doxepin) in some people that take it, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes.

You should take it according to your doctor's prescribing instructions, but it can be taken as needed, if they approve of your taking it that way.

Are you on any other medications?

A new Silenor user. My doc prescribed this in the hope that I’ll be able to sleep through the night. He suggested 3 mg first and if not enough, try the 6 mg tablet. So, since I’m a big guy, I reasoned I should go straight to the 6 mg. Well, I slept great but woke up feeling like I was drunk for the first hour. So, I knocked back down to 3 mg for the next two nights, but no full nights sleep. So, I wonder should I stick to the 3 mg and expect that eventually this will work for me? Or, just go back to the 6 mg dosage?
