Taking 4mg Medrol For Rheumatoid Arthritis For 11 Years

Should I be taking 4mg of Medrol daily to help control my Arthritis? Been on this for 11 years now and health issues showing up. Torn achilles tendon right foot. Worn tendons and damaged ligaments left foot. Is it safe to be on Medrol this long?

There are always risks to taking medications for a long period of time, that is why people are always advised to only continue something, as long as their doctor deems it safe for them to do so.

Other long term effects, as reported by the FDA, may include weight gain, fluid retention, acne, and high blood pressure.

Has your doctor tied these issues to your use of this medication? Or do they think there is some other cause?

Thanks for the quick response. I'm just starting the process of determining the effect of my drug regimen and if it is affecting my physical well being. I asked my rhumatoligist about the medrol effect on tendons and he said they in no way could cause the weakening of them. I am also on Arava and Sullindac. I have lost 2' in height. I've also had a bone density evaluation and it puts me in the High range for bone fracture. Just looking for answers. Thanks.
