Taken Too Much Lisinopril For 2 Weeks
UpdatedHello,
A family member of mine has a prescription of 10mg lisinopril once a day. Recently the pharmacy accidentally gave her a pack of 20mg tablets that she has been taking (thinking they were 10mg) for around 2 weeks. So her doseage has been 10mg for around a year, then accidentally switched to 20mg for 2 weeks.
No side effects have been noticed.
Is it ok for her to just go back to 10mg now she has realised?
Thanks in advance

The VA stopped giving pain med's to all VET'S a few months ago. I have hernaiated disc's in upper and lower back that causes a great deal of pain I''m 72 years old... NO DOCTOR ANYWHERE WILL PRESCRIBE THE MORPHINE THAT I WAS TAKING AS DIRECTED FOR OVER 4 YEARS. I was getting 60mg time release morphine to take 2 every 12 hours and I was doing pretty good on the pain med.
yes, they can go back to the 10mg. there have been no problems from this by anyone .
I tacke this also,I take 40mg. and at times have had to adjust my dosage.
hope this helps.
Has your friend contacted their doctor?
A sudden lowering of the dosage of Lisinopril might cause a rebound effect, which could result in elevated blood pressure and heart rate, which may be dangerous, so they need to consult their doctor for the proper way to handle this situation.

Bruce, I am not aware of a blanket refusal to treat pain, by the VA for all veterans. There are several that post on here that are still receiving their medications.

Have you considered trying regular pain management?
My doctor recently decreased my dosage of Lisinopril from 20 mg. to 10 mg. per day. I was able to do it suddenly (just began taking the 10 mg. tablets one day instead of the 20 mg.) and didn't notice any side effects. However, my blood pressure has never been high. I was put on the Lisinopril for something else.
Bruce,
Not all vets had their pain meds stopped. Maybe they want to try something different for you. Did you know Chiropractic work is sometimes paid for by the VA. Also they may be getting you ready for physical therapy, surgery or who knows. Call your primary care and ask for a longer than normal visit. Bring your spouse or someone who can take notes for you. And lastly sometimes they get in your medication, only it has a different name, vendor ??? Ask them if they are giving you something different.
She should of course discuss this with he physician. But, she should probable also go back to her original 10 mg rx. She should also check her BP regularly, maybe 2 X daily for a while to make sure she is in a healthy range.
How much is too much xeralto b4 you should seek medical treatment
