I ran out of subutex last night - can I take suboxone today?

I just took suboxone at 8:00 a.m this morning it's is now 1:53 p.m and I'm out of suboxone but a friend of mine gave me a M924 (subtex) is its okay for me to take it now an how should I take it for the best fix . Please comment an let me know , I'm scared of going into W/D but I also don't want to Mix drugs an be worse off. Thanks

The only diference is suboxone uts new safer improved version because people used to abuse subotex which can still kill u like my friend, but on suboxone u can't od as easily.

I take 20 mg of subutex then go fill a prescription for 8 mg of suboxone strips just cause and take it throughout the day, the 20 mg they watch me take plus I am prescribed by my doctor 2 mg of xanax 3 times a day too, so I've got no problems.

Use a piece of the strip to make it last. A lower dose is 2mg so u will at least have something in ur system a little is better than nothing

Yes you can, they are both used for the same reason and the only difference is subutex does not have a blocker.

I'm also on subutex and have wondered the same thing. As far as my EXPERIENCE is concerned, if I take LESS suboxone than my daily dose of subutex, I find my body feels 'anxious'. Basically I just feel uncomfortable. BUT if I take the equivalent - eg; my daily dose of subutex is 24mg (or 3 x 8mg tablets) so I must take 24mg of suboxone (or 3 x 8mg suboxone film strips) I feel unwell.
The thing with these meds is, if u don't have a good handle on the way you interpret 'hanging out' you'll have issues. I find my mind can almost cause me to feel like I'm hanging out or in desperate need of my dose even though I know I shouldn't. Hope that helps! If there's anything anyone doesn't understand, please ask and I'll try to reply. In today's world, we suffer far too much stigma for us to turn on each other.

I had to switch from suboxone to subutex and it was also a short time I was fine although my head did play games with me but for me I was fine I have not used an opiate since 2004 so ort does work you should be fine let me know

Have only four 8 strips Suboxone to last until January 21st! I currently take 12 mgs day. Reason Im short? They were stolen and I can't turn the person in as he is family. I have no concrete proof.

anyway, I've be on this for four years and believe it or not, Im workung wuth my dr on a sliw taper, I've let her down a couple of times over the past five years but she took me back as a patient. I'm grateful beyond belief as to how much she carex but she's a TOUGH NUT TO BREAK if anyone runs short for whatever reason! I'm glad that I kept five subs in a differenr spot, or i would have had nothing!!

Hi Ash,

Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between Subutex and Suboxone. So with that being said, I wouldn't anticipate having any problems when switching between one or the other.

Also, because Subutex contains the same active ingredient "Buprenorphine", taking the two meds together or within a short a time frame of one another would also be similar to just having an higher dose of Suboxone.

Is your doctor also aware that you're taking both medications?
