Was it prescribed by the child's pediatrician?

If not, then no they should not be given to them. Attempts to diagnose and treat, without a doctor's approval, creates the risk of causing the child to develop antibiotic resistance bacteria. I'm not trying to say this is what you are doing, I just want to make the warning the clear.

However, if it was prescribed by their pediatrician, then yes it is a dosage used for children for bad infections.

It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
