Switching From Methadone To Suboxone
UpdatedIt took me a while to get down to it but I just switched from 10 mg of Methadone to Suboxone. How much Suboxone should I have to take, and how long? Also what else can I take with the Suboxone to make it easier?

I am afraid I don't have that information for you.
Doctor's that treat with Suboxone are carefully trained in its use and they have to carefully calibrate the dosage according to how much of the drug you were taking and for how long.
On top of that, the tapering must be done very slowly, with the person's health and withdrawal symptoms being taken into account. For some people it can take several months, but other can take several years.

Have you considered seeking medical attention?
Iv been on the methadone program this time for a month now, and I finally got my regular doctor to make me an appointment to switch to suboxone. I'm at 100mgs and I start tapering down tomorrow, how fast should I drop my dose? since Ive only been on for like 25 days am I going to get as sick as the last time detoxing after 2 yrs? How many Mgs should I taper down to before switching to suboxone? And how many Mgs of suboxone should I start out with on my first sub dose? Thanks guys, I hope for some good answers, it's nice to have a site like this ware we can help each other out and answer each others questions. Thanks again!!!
So it can still take months to taper to a low enough dose to switch to subs even if I've only been taking methadone for a month? I mean I know I'm going to have to suffer some, but it shouldn't be to bad right?
When you take suboxone to soon and you get sick how long are you sick for before you can feel better and take more suboxone? Can you take it to soon on purpose? Would that be beneficial?
30! It's normally 30 mg. It's 30 mg you need to be tapered down to before you switch to subs. The doctor will usually have you go 2 full days without methadone before switching you over. They normally start with 4 mg of subs the first day, then go up from there.
I am on 24 mlgs of methadone and want to switch over to suboxone. How many days do i have to wait to switch over?
I've been on methadone for almost 6 months and have been at a stable dose of 75mg for about two weeks. The last 3 days I didn't dose and took opiates to see if it would help kick it out so I could start suboxone. Tomorrow is day 4 and I haven't taken anything but opiates this morning that I didn't feel because the blocking effect from methadone.. When would u suggest it's safe to take suboxone?

Ur fine. A month now have they said ur stable?. If so taper down 10 mg each week or every 2 weeks. Then when doen to 10 mg tapper 1 mg daily most methadone clinics will be against this but they want u there a good doc will wa t u off of it. N u have ur own right to choose ur medicine. U can do it. Went from 120 mg to 8 mg sub then down to 1 mg thats last one mg od sub is hard. But theres also new meds besides subs. Like zubsolve. Find a good doc n make an appt n explain qhat u want to do. N make sure hes resdy for u the day after the 1 mg. Plus thw liqued stays the same. Same amount tricks ur body really. Almost same color too.

I have been on methadone for the past 10 months and took my last dose of 40mg yesterday morning. How long should I wait before taking suboxone? Would like to hear from those who have experienced making the switch.

Whether its methadone or another opiate, the basic rule of thumb is stop until you are in withdrawal, then wait some more and then you should be okay to start subutex. And try and avoid Espranor. My prescriber told me it would be a seamless transition, a week later I broke my leg at work with a forklift. Coincidence... Maybe, but to be on the safe side set aside a week or two to get used to the new meds. I'm not a Dr but by definition I'm an expert!
I'm planning on switching from Methadone to Suboxone. How will I know if it won't work?
