Switch From Loestrin Fe To Lolo

My pharmacy couldn't offer my Loestrin Fe at the price I was paying and my doctor suggested I switch to either Lo Loestrin Fe (same active cycle but with a lower dose) or Junel (different active cycle). I chose the LoLo just because it seemed easier, but I was standing in a crowded pharmacy and didn't feel like I could ask all the questions I wanted.
So I'm still a little suspicious. What does the low dosage of estrogen really affect? I guess what I"m asking is, if it's not as important as the progestin, why is it in the pill at all? I use bc for contraception, not so much period/mood regulation (mine were never that bad off the pill.)

The estrogen helps limit some of the common birth control side effects.
Well, it it is a vital female hormone and the amount in different women's bodies varies, so not all of them can take the same contraceptive at the same dose.

There are some contraceptives available that are Progestin only, but you don't have as much leeway when you take them. They have to be taken every day within 2 hours of the time you took the one prior to it, or it's basically the same as a skipped pill.
And many women do better with the combined dose oral contraceptives, because they do have a better effectiveness and safety track record.
Are there any other questions?
